What do you think the two biggest challenges are facing the township?
1) Declining Revenues - Issue of providing quality services and roads when revenues are declining.
2) Meaningful budgets that are good working tools for the Trustees - providing meaningful budgets is a necessity to help the Trustees make financially-responsible decisions for the citizens of the Township.

Townships have experienced reduced revenue at the state level as their budgets are being cut.  As a result, good fundamental budgeting becomes more critical as residents look for the same level of services and maintenance of roads that they have experienced in the past.  During the budgeting process, the Township and Trustees need to think "outside the box" for creative ways of funding as private businesses might approach issues as well as cost control and/or alternatives.
What would you do to improve the office?
I will work closely with the Trustees and department heads to make good sound financial decisions rather than continuing to maintain the status quo.  I will use my previous experience as a Township Fiscal Officer and understanding how the government financial process work, along with my experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) working with individuals and businesses, to help the Township leadership.

If you could change anything in the township, what would that be?

I will provide meaningful financial information for the Trustees and be proactive with potential problems rather than waiting to be reactive to situations as they occur.
Where do you see the township in 5 years?
Stabilization - this will happen after taking proper steps to adjust to the current decline in revenue by implementing sound budgeting procedures, not only for financial operations but having a plan for future capital improvements for roads and equipment as well.  It is important for the residents to know that the Township is utilizing its resources to provide the necessary services and to properly maintain its roads.

In light of the new Trustee leadership that has been elected over the past couple of terms and being a current member of the Clay Township Zoning Board, I want to join this new team, using my skills and experience to conservatively prepare the Township for the future.
